A North Staffordshire teenager fought off stiff competition from across the UK to secure an award for his work in the painting and maintenance industry.

James Phillips secured the “Apprentice of the Year” accolade from J & S Seddon (Painting) Limited - one of the country’s largest painting companies.

Each year, J & S Seddon (Painting) – which has 24 offices situated throughout England, Wales and Scotland – organises the competition to reward the cream of its young talent. The award is assessed on an individual’s college reports and work standards on site.
