Seddon Success In Training Award Bid
Seddon has reached the finals of a prestigious national award for its commitment to training.
The company has been shortlisted in the Construction Industry Awards 2007, organised by leading industry publication Contract Journal.
They are one of four companies to be shortlisted for the Training Award category - sponsored by ConstructionSkills - from what the organisers describe as a ‘substantial’ number of entries.
Staff at Seddon now face a nail-biting wait for the results, which will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on October 4th.
Emma Penny, editor of Contract Journal, said: “Now in their twelfth year, the Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards are the most prestigious in the construction industry.
“Developed with the industry for the industry, they reward innovation and excellence in British construction. The shortlist is a roll call of excellence in the industry.”
“We received a significant number of entries for the Training Award.”
For more than 40 years, Seddon has operated a dedicated apprentice scheme, producing an average of some 30 skilled workers a year.
The company also puts staff through professional and specialist training. In the last year, three Seddon day release university students have achieved first class degrees in surveying and quantity surveying.
Stuart Seddon, chairman of Seddon, which has its headquarters in Duke Street, Fenton, said: “We are delighted to have reached the shortlist. We are committed to training and belief it has been fundamental to the growth, development and stability of the company.”
