Brighter Homes Boost Employment
Seddon has secured a £500,000 partnering deal with Spire View Housing Association to maintain its entire housing stock of 551 homes in the Royston area of Glasgow.
As well as creating new jobs in the local area, the £500,000 deal will also generate apprenticeship opportunities.
William McKay, who is responsible for delivering the contract from Seddon’s Airdrie office, based in Brownsburn Industrial Estate, said: “The work with Spire View will be carried out by 15 operatives from our local office and we hope to create at least half a dozen new jobs in the area.
“We have already interviewed applicants for three new apprenticeships and we are looking forward to a good working relationship with Spire View.”
To mark the start of the contract two of Spire View’s longest-serving tenants, Ellen Watson, 62, and Celia Grant, 73, received bouquets of flowers from the Spire View and Seddon team.
Fiona Watson, Acting Director for Spire View Housing Association, based in Roystonhill, said: “Our tenants were delighted with their bouquets and the presentation was quite an occasion. We are pleased that the redecorating contract has got off to such a good start.
“We look forward to working with Seddon over the next five years as we are investing heavily in our housing stock here in Royston and we want to look after the local environment for the generations to come.
“As a community-minded organisation, what is particularly pleasing about our partnering agreement with Seddon is that it is creating local employment opportunities.”
