Seddon Purchases East Anglia Contractor
Leading national painting and maintenance contractor Seddon has acquired Cambridgeshire-based decorators, Cundy Anglia.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, will see all 50 people currently employed by Cundy Anglia transfer to Seddon Painting.
Cundy Anglia’s headquarters, based in Burwell, north of Cambridge, will be retained as Seddon’s centre of operations for the county, and provide a platform to reach into areas including Ipswich, Norwich, Peterborough and Newmarket. Cundy Anglia has been established in East Anglia for almost 15 years.
This purchase gives Seddon Painting – established for more than 50 years with a current turnover of £38 million - a greater presence in East Anglia.
The company is already looking to increase its workforce in the region. As well as safeguarding the roles of all employees at Cundy Anglia’s, Seddon will also introduce its maintenance operations to the area – as well as its award-winning apprenticeship scheme.
Don Gleave and Chris Hemingway, the owners of Cundy Anglia’s, are both retiring and have sold the business to Seddon on the basis of the company’s emphasis on quality, training and customer service, as well as its commitment to the environment and the community.
Neil Hand, joint managing director of Seddon, said: “A series of successful partnering agreements between Seddon and various housing associations and local authorities is the primary reason for the expansion.
“The growth we have achieved as a company has been considerable and sustainable.
“We now have sites which cover much of England, Wales and Scotland and are able to offer our national clients a single, unified approach to their painting and maintenance needs.”
