Seddon appoints new training manager
Leading national painting and maintenance company Seddon has appointed Kevin Smith as the company’s new training manager.
The 34-year-old previously spent 11 years working in the further education sector.
Kevin brings a wealth of expertise in areas including management, quality control,contract co-ordination and the assessment and verification of national qualifications. He has also worked extensively as a lecturer and trainer in painting-relating subjects.
He will support the work of the company’s head of Human Resources, Mike Philo.

His appointment follows Seddon’s move last year to invest more than £1 million on a new centre of excellence to train its staff.
The state-of-the-art facilities, based at Seddon Painting’s headquarters in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, will be used to support the company’s 700 strong workforce across the UK.
This centre is among the best in the painting industry. Features include a technical suite and a training environment incorporating simulations of typical situations found in commercial, industrial and residential environments, to allow high level practical training to take place.
Seddon’s high quality workmanship has been recognised with a raft of awards, including the Contractor of the Year award from the London and Quadrant Housing Trust in 2007 and first place for Training Achievement in the Quality in Construction Awards organised by the industry publication Construction News in 2006.
One of the company’s trainees, James Phillips, is currently the Painting and Decorating Association’s apprentice of the year.
