J & S Seddon Chairman Joins European ‘Heads-up’ On Painting Industry
J & S Seddon chairman Stuart Seddon joined representatives from across Europe for the general assembly of UNIEP, the European trade group for the painting industry, which took place in London.
The conference was the first time members have meet in the Capital since 1972 and focused on the environment, training and the welfare of small to medium businesses.
It took place at the International Coffee Organisation in the Capital – which offers the necessary facilities for international events, including comprehensive conference and translation facilities.
Stuart Seddon, chairman of the painting, building and maintenance company J & S Seddon, was one of three members of the Painting and Decorating Assocation (PDA) representing the UK at the event. The PDA – one of the UK’s largest trade bodies – is an affiliated member of UNIEP.
Mr Seddon, whose company’s headquarters are based in Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, said: “It was interesting to see how issues such as the introduction of more environmentally-friendly paints and pan-European training initiatives are being introduced in the industry both here and on the Continent.”
UNIEP was established in 1953 and serves as a lobbying group influencing European legislation that impacts on the painting and decorating sector.
David Powis, chief executive of the PDA, said: “This was an important meeting that covered some important issues for the country’s painting and decorating industry as a whole.”
