Seddon Secures Major Social Housing Contract

Thirty new jobs are set to be created after maintenance and painting company J & S Seddon won a multi million pounds contract to provide services for homes across the South East of England.

J & S Seddon has secured an agreement with the Carr-Gomm housing charity to work on its properties in London and the counties of Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire and parts of Kent.

The £1.7 million a year contract will last for an initial four years with Carr-Gomm having the ability to secure J & S Seddon’s services for a further two years.

J & S Seddon is to establish a new office in Croydon to cover Carr-Gomm properties in South London, while established offices in Ilford, Borough Green and Southampton will cover north London and the Home Counties.

Lee Painter of J & S Seddon, said: “The contract is great news and a major boost at a time when we keep hearing about a recession.

“It will lead to the creation of 30 jobs, including experienced professionals and apprentices to join our current team.

“As a company, J & S Seddon looks to recruit in the areas covered by its contracts, bringing new employment opportunities to local communities.

“We have previously done small pieces of work for Carr-Gomm but nothing on anything approaching this scale. This is a major new contract and it is the first time that Carr-Gomm has placed all of its maintenance work into one large contract.

”It covers all responsive repairs, planned maintenance, work on voids and cyclical redecoration.”

Scott Schofield, Head of Asset Management and Development said: “Seddon impressed the interview panel which included two Carr-Gomm clients.
“We chose them for two reasons. Firstly, they have a proven track record in the sector and are able to provide a quick and responsive service at a competitive price.

“Secondly, we provide housing, care and support to vulnerable people, and with any contractor we work with it is important that they treat our clients with respect. Seddon clearly demonstrated that their values are closely aligned with our own and that they will provide a professional a courteous service.”
