New Director At Seddon
A high profile Midlands businessman has joined national construction firm J & S Seddon.
David Carr OBE has been appointed by the building, painting, maintenance and flooring company – which has its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent and more than 30 offices across the UK – as a non-executive director.
Mr Carr will work with J & S Seddon in key areas including regeneration, new business and development opportunities.
Earlier this year, the 61-year-old retired from Hulme Upright Manning Architects, following a career spanning more than 35 years - including 25 years as managing partner.
Mr Carr will continue as a consultant with the architects’ practice, which has its headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent, and a regional office in Manchester.
Stuart Seddon, chairman of J & S Seddon, which is part of Seddon Group, said: “David brings a unique level of expertise and a great deal of enthusiasm for the industry.
“He will play an invaluable role in helping to steer the company at boardroom level.”
Mr Carr has played a key role in shaping the future of North Staffordshire, holding roles including the chairmanship of the former Staffordshire Training and Enterprise Council and Stoke-on-Trent Community Partnership – as well as the city’s Local Strategic Partnership.
The father-of-three is currently deputy president of the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, following a two-year period as president.
Mr Carr said: “I’m delighted to have been offered a non executive directorship and to work with the company and the Seddon family, who I have known and respected for much of my professional career.
“The company’s ethos, based on solid family values and an innovative, pioneering approach, sets it apart in the industry.”
