Partnering as a concept in the construction and maintenance industry has now been evident for a number of years, following the initiatives established by Messrs Egan and Latham.

It marks a move away from the adversarial relationship that became associated with the traditional lowest price tendering and contract award of the past.

Instead, Partnering relies on trust and teamwork to deliver cost effective results, closely monitored through extensive quality control measures.

The process develops from the client and contract teams’ identification and commitment to common goals to fulfil the client’s needs – all within a framework of common purpose and shared excellence.

Overall, the aim of Partnering is that all parties involved should benefit from their professional input – which in turn stimulates all to give maximum effort to achieve the best outcome.
